No, i don't want to start linux-windows war, just it is so...

I never understood why windows have to "hide" demos, screenshots and saves so far, but most of games have them somewhere like that.

ye im having a shortcut on my desktop somehow...

what aimme means is that under linux u can have a directory everywhere.
its like windows shortcuts but the system dont show u where you really are.
for advanced use, this feature really make sense.
like on a webserver: imagine, on yoursite.com/pornos is a high load.
so u mant to have this directory on a separate disk
here u would have to trick in the webserver under windows...

ah, to solve the prob with that neverending path:
how about putting your urban terror in a 'good' place?
like D:\Spiele or so...

the trick to move your urban terror installation is the following:
1.) go to game directory in windows explorer
2.) press CTRL + C
3.) go to drive C or D
4.) right click new --> folder
5.) enter 'games', 'spiele', 'igre', 'gioco on-line' or such.
6.) navigate into new directory
7.) press CTRL + V
8.) be patient, it loads

Yeah, but demos are not stored to his urban terror folder, but to some of windows long folders. Application data, yeah that's that part. Like mine is not in game directory, but in home. I have demos in /mendia/razno/igre/UrbanTerror/q3ut4/demos, but thoes are only ones i copied. Demos he (and me) record are stored on another place for some reason.

Linux: Hidden folders -> it dont matter what application is when it wants to store data different per users it use these hidden folders. (i assume evry body knows this ;) )
(maybe developers was thinking that user would want to change data manually)
Windows: Situation like in linux but data are stored in some crazy applicatilon data hidden folder in your account folder. I dont think it was meant to be accessed manually so thats why its so crazy. And urt dont have any demo importer so sry :/ dunno solution.. windows no bashscripts no symlinks.. i would die

I remember reading somewhere (around here?) that if you don't want the demos to go to VirtualStore you must manually add write permissions (even if you are running the system as admin) to your game directory if it's in Program Files. (this applies to newer windows versions only)

yeah I had the same problem with stuff, thats because windows (vista/7) automatically quarantines files made by other programs. Hence the 'virtual' part.
I forgot how to switch that off, but GOOGLE does wonders in this case.

I find it fascination how Google still does the job for at least one person on Earth. It yields almost no good results for me lately. A month ago or so I noticed that I spend hours on Google to find some information, and then I give up on Google and desperately check Wikipedia or something like that and get the info almost right away.

Ever since they put that Everything sidebar the quality of results dropped horribly.
