It's just a power grid stress test. It's not that fancy.

I don't even watch local news, much less German news.

Actually, I practically don't watch TV at all.

Even if we shut down all electric consumer thingies, the power plant would still be operating, so the main source of pollution is left intact. And shutting down a power plant for an hour is just ridiculous.

That's exactly why I dont participate in such acts, people have no clue what's going on exactly and just follow like sheep. This is why I can never have a normal discussion regarding nuclear powerplants with hippies for example, because they already know that uranium splits in plutonium, and that everything is radioactive for 239423 years after that, and that nuclear power plants are the most unsafe form of energy.

And when I try to correct them as in "Oh hey, I'm a fucking chemistry student and I follow classes on this matter" They just get mad at me for defending nuclear energy.

The fact is, that people are misinformed, which result in stuff like this. If people would actually get 1 LED light with small solar panels for like 20 euros and use it every day you'd consume as much energy in a year as that one hour of lights off with coal plants and stuff, but what do the people do? The lazy way of course.

my word! :D
The problem is wanting more, new tech instead of making the old one work as efficient as it can be. Example: Shutdown nuclear power plants, saying we can REPLACE that by 2030 or something or even if it would be just 2020. Still idiotic while saying we want 1million electric cars by 2020, i mean wtf? How should that work?? Now either shut down the power plants OR get that new stuff. And don't fire up the coal plants to 100% to get in place for nuclear power, that's just ridicules. Other example: Why not go for super efficient cars instead of stupid hybrids that use more fuel as soon they crack the 45mph. The problem is that ppl want a "green feeling" but not the living that comes with it to really make it "green".

WWF ist ein von der Industrie zersetzter Laden. Niemand sollte den auch nur irgendeinen Gefallen tun.
