Just out of curiosity, how hard is it to port 4.1 maps to 4.2? Oh, and btw, I'm no longer a student, I over and through with that so I might come and play sometimes again now. |

Dunno, but someone ported the regular 4.1 ut4_kingdom to 4.2 server: it is called domking_rc1. The ut4_kingdom which comes with the original 4.2, in fact is the RC6 version I think. |

4.2 is nothing revolutionary, tech-wise it’s just 4.1 with bug fixes and some added features. Maps need no porting; when it comes to playing existing third party maps, some textures the mapper recycled from the older Casa and Uptown (and maybe Ricochet and Tombs) may be missing. Domking is a repack of the 4.1 Kingdom — the PK3 contains just the BSP, shader file and levelshot; textures and sounds are identical between versions. There’s nothing 4.2-specific to consider when building or compiling (unless you’re making a jump map in which case there are a couple of new entities you can use) and maps look identical under both versions. (I’ve been mapping and testing since April.) |

@domking: harryballz and bky picked it out from 4.1 huge pak file. ask them for howto, especially when it comes to downsizing (4.2 comes with alot textures from 4.1) |

I was just thinking about my own maps (which only use "caulk" "textures" and the likes from UrT; I usually make my own textures whenever possible). I'll probably switch to 4.2 then one of these days. |
