Post subject:  trouble with TEAC HP-7D headset under Kubuntu 12.04.1

Couldn't find a decent topic for this, so i'll just post it here.

Noobish me can't find a way to get the headset running under kubuntu.
Maybe anyone of you has experience with USB headsets under ubuntu, or ran into similar problems.

Any help is very welcome!

The headset is shown in the alsamixer and Phonon, but it doesn't show up in kmix playback devices (only in capture devices).
Whether the headset is connected or not, the sound comes from the speakers.
Even volume adjustment through the headset seems to work fine, but there is no sound output through the headphones. Didn't check the mike yet.

I'll try to provide as much information as possible:

Didn't work for me so far. So didn't adding the ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa repository lead to any changes.

I've been thinking about switching to pulseaudio, but i'd like to avoid it if it's not really neccessary.

I'll continue digging into this tomorrow. I hope with your help i'll figure it out until bomb training starts. I miss being fragged by you ;)

I'd be very happy if anyone could give me a hand on this mess.

thanks

Might sound trivial, but: Did you try re-inserting it after
the system is up and running? There could be a wrong
initialization order somewhere.

Yep, tried it multiple times. I'll later post the dmesg output again.
Thx to GNU i'm able to use it with mumble now (via alsa).
