hm for map upload, 50 clients X dsl5000(5mbit) = 250 Mbit on map change.
this lags even an ethernet connection, so we need a second cable...

Perhaps you'll need a gigabit connection soon ;) .

ah, its possible to run it as gigabit allready. im just afraid from that since a gigabit losing control would make me a poor sucker :D
and another cable has another preference: independency.
plus theres a server for that i pay the traffic every month without having some...

If I'm getting you right, you paying internet traffic per amount of traffic. Have you considered flat rate? Or is there some telekom complication to it?

hi cable connection at home is flatrate, not too expensive these days, the server in the data center however only have a limited amount of traffic included, if you pass that amount you have to pay for each GB extra.

ye, u must pay traffic in the end.
a 100 mbit connection can make u 40 tera a month, thats not for free.
the private users flatrates are possible cause not everyone load as much porn and stolen software as some people. and ye, its hard to suck more then 1 tera every month, assuming that u have a home comp with 1 drive.

a flatrate would cost somehow same much like a peering (or maybe half)
and were far away from a situation in that such would save money.
maybe when i find 10 friends with similar transfer, such concepts could make sense...

Ah, I forgot to consider that flat rate w/ 100Mbit would cost much much more than a 1-10Mbit one... :(

10 mbit?
we have the prob that the 100-wire is full when map-suxor-mania happens :)

ATM I've got flat rate with:
Downstream rate: 4704 kbps
Upstream rate: 317 kbps
(copy-paste from router's status page), and it's cca. 25€ per month. So 100Mbit would be cca. 500€ for ASDL, and for two-way 100MBIT 1000€ a month here in Croatia if prices were just proportional, yea really alot..... :|

hm the prob is: theres no such flatrates for servers.
i mean sure there is flatrates. but much more expensive.
on the market for private people they can do such cause the mentioned reasons.
the drive of the server wont get full, nothing could stop me from blasting out 400 TB (400000 GB) with an asrock onboard NIC every month...
:)

btw: the internet itself is basically free. you can have peerings, np:
http://decix.de/content/services/public-peering.html
its neither pay nor flatrate. its being the internet.
btw, u need some a bit more money for 1-2-3 compis and membership in ripe etc. but thats then it, no big investions. all in all far less then a new mercedes or a toilet of platin.
some "free spare time" should be a good idea.
