Oki anyone saw some like this already?
Attachment:
error_image.jpg

Its Photo loaded in Firefox 3.6 . the Error doesnt appear at other users of FF 3.6. or others.
there is small network of 3 PCs. the error shows up only on 2 where is FF 3.6 on the 3rd it loads fine and it has FF3.5
It happens only on 1 particular website. browsing other websites and photos in same FF => all is fine.
All FF plugins r off.
IE shows it correctly.

EDIT: Oki this isnt original broken Photo, this is just Screenshot, so not worth to try any, sorry for confusing...
some other, original broken here: http://www.q3ana.de/bullshit/535_0.jpg
Here ist the "version" withouth errors http://www.q3ana.de/bullshit/535_ana.jpg
Edit: Since some guyz made this topic unreadable, small shortcut to the point---> Problem vanishes on the page 5 in Anas post

Probably some rare strange exotic bug in combination of codecs used by ff3.6 and whatever originaly made the picture. Does the bug dissappear if you try to download the image, open with a drawing program (i.e. GIMP, photoshop, irfanview,...) and save-as the file, and open it in ff via file->open?

Hmm if I download it, bug is still there. Tried Epiphany, same. Gimp - same.
You got some original download page? Maybe your firefox corrupted the data while downloading or something like that...

If exactly the same image can be viewed by all other users and not by one special FF3.6 user, it's definetly his fault (sounds strange, but why can all others view it?). I guess you saved a screen shot of this error and posted the screenshot, so what we see is a technical intact image, investigating this posted JPG wouldn't help.

jeje this is just screenshot, since i had no original photo at the time i posted this. meanwhile i have it and its the same error they have i have when i open the foto...trying to open it in Photoshop : the file is damaged....

Then the file is damaged, but probably some browsers fix the error/damage better, and some (ff3.6 for example:) less better.

Post subject:  Re: image_error

I now compared both JPEG files I got from Ana with a hex editor, both have exactly the same size and are similar, but 4 bytes differ. And very interesting: the byte value in the broken image is always 4 smaller than in the correct image:

workin' image: ... 4E 58 0F B3 ...
broken image: ... 4E 18 0F 73 ...

So somehow these four bytes were changed (decreased by four). Unfortunately an important marker in the file was changed by that, so that all progams can't display the image correctly. Not only a few pixels changed, the programs can't distinguish between the compressed layers inside the JPEG. That's what I found so far with my false sense of knowledge (I had JPEG compression during my studis, so this is interesting for me) ...

The important question is: Where and how and why were this few bytes changed?

Steve pretty much said it all.

Nothing is perfect, neither are computers. Errors do happen.
