hey, this happened on first may. or better: april 30, 22h roundabout. gameserwer was down. wtf !!! later, i found out that the board became some mixture of imploded and automelt. so i went to shop and bought a quadcore pentium, 2,2 Ghz mainboard Asus P5K Pro. Before i had dualcore PentiumD, 2,66. I had 60-70% cpu, all (still) lagfree. nowadays things changed to 15-20, its a dream for desktop budget. |

je ist 3 gig since without bigger klicking u cant pass that value in 32bit system. the biiig memory is the virtual memory. theres some server crash cause of virtual memory. dunno what it is, nobody in the net seem to have an idea so i increased that. its just reserved disk space that should (in the case the server run low / out of memory) work in exchange for ram. btw: if this memory graph increases it means u need more memory... |

I can't get more RAM. My motherboard supports maximum of 2GB and that's what I have now |

Great to hear that Did you ever try not to limit the FPS and see what's the average outcome? |

see people, a pc wont get more fast or slow if it has more or less ram. just when the ram is full it uses the hard drive in exchange. this is then a pretty mad situation where u have a REAL bottleneck in ur system. comparing the speeds of ram and hd: ram: 1.000 - 16.000 MB/sec, access time nanoseconds hd: 30 - 150 MB/sec, access time milliseconds so we have like 1/100st part of throughput in this situation, access time raise by factor 100.000 the HD read one after the other, theres no simultaneous loading. immagine ur pc is an office: the ram is the desk, the hd is the file shelf next room. when ur desk is full u must go for every little shit to the shelf. having a desk with 20 square meters wont make u faster. but having it too small makes u work from the shelf. oki this needed to be said |

Damn, I can't compete with you guys having a MacBook Pro, 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 Gig RAM and a X1600 Mobility. Well, UrT runs at 50 to 100 FPS on 1440x900 with almost all Settings high (just bilinear instead of trilinear texture filtering), anyway, good for now. |

je were playing a game that appeared in 1999. for home pc. these days u needed a really fit system, having best 128 (omg) ram and a 400Mhz p2 (hihi) its one of the resons i love q3. it runs on allmost any pc with respectable framerates. as long as theres no headtracking, i dont see a reason to change the game. headtracking? jeje. the whole industry allways say u need new hardware, allways theres new games with higher expectations. but the next generation first person shooter is still missing and it will have headtracking. watch this nerd, he built a really impressive demonstration on how such games could look: Watch this vid @ Youtube (new Window) nice? sure. immagine how u could hold snipe round the edge... whatever even this next generation of game would run on ur old desktop pc. but maybe that it could run on old hardware is the reason why its not on the market yet. so allways get smart when they want u to buy a new computer. often, its the devil in form of a turbocapitalist, appearing to steal ur soul. |
