Hi all,

First of all, the dswp.de servers rock, but that is pretty much know around here, I guess.

To cut to the case: I'm experiencing some really lame FPS speed when playing the map 'The Suburbs'. I don't know if this is due to some heavy textures used in this map or something related.

All other maps run great, but only this map renders UT unplayable (on a Macbook and iMac).

Is there a way to fix this client-side? Or is there a 'better FPS' version for this map, just like the map 'Crossing'?

At first: Thanks!

About lag and unplayable game, it may be because of connection problems (not yours, servers) when 40+ people play on server. As for now i haven't noticed FPS drops on suburbs, but i experienced big lag.

My's just first answer, nerds can explain better :D

Lucky AimMe... For people who have quite old/cheap hardware like me and probably like Xoc (Mac :p), there are *HUGE* framedrops on this map, and it's not related to network (at least for me). I have about 25-30 FPS in middle when the server is almost full.

I didn't know that crossing had a better FPS version... maybe in the past ? Not much you can do to improve that except playing with the urt .cfg file. Mine is quite FPS optimized I think, and I'm sure others here have played with variables to gain some additional Fps... I will open a thread about optimized cfg soon, so stay tuned ;)
PS : IMO we play suburbs too much these days, maybe we should remove it from the mapcycle for a while :)

The strange thing is, this only occurs in this specific map...

FPS problems with Suburbs is a normal thing, unless you have a good processor.

i've got dothan 1.86ghz and mobility radeon x300 (!!!) and the only map which makes me trouble is Granja. too many trees and too much grass...
with res 1024x768 i set 50 fps and it works fine with every other map, no matter how many players, but details must be lowest, not only in game but gfx card control panel too. only smoke spoils that or heavy lag
