Ubuntu 9.10 is epic fail, almost like Vista. Well, you can't make so many changes and still keep stable OS.

Ubuntu is GNU/Linux with difficulty set to "Training mode". It's great for beginners to learn their way around GNU/Linux, but there are more powerful and more ancient distros out in this world.

*pretends to know what Linux is*

Linux is the kernel used by GNU operating system because their kernel is not complete yet (after all these years....). Linux was originally written to serve as a UNIX terminal emulator, because it's author Linus Torvalds found it funny how Minix (a UNIX-based OS) couldn't connect to a UNIX server. Eventually he realized that he nearly made an operating system in the process, so he added a few things and got an OS of some sort out of it. It has evolved a lot since then and is now the most portable kernel known to man.

At least that's as far as I know.

In English, Linux is OS which is free and much more stable than windows, faster and much better for servers. Only problem on Linux is that it can't run all Windows applications.

ubuntu has (however) the most info bout setup/run vmware server.
additionally its a debian fork, so im feeling pretty much home...
