IMO Java CAN be good from time to time, but is usually useless because they keep adding new methods and removing old ones, so if you learn Java once, in a few years you'll have difficulties with anything any bit larger than the Hello World.

And I personally have problems with Java because I can't remember caps/non-caps for it (i.e. is it System.Out.PrintLn or system.out.println or system.out.printLn or System.out.println or something else). It's just to inconsistent. And it also lacks some basic (not BASIC) functionality that all reasonable programming languages have, like nested functions, anonymous functions, anonymous objects (typically Strings) are often buggy, etc. etc.

And it's a mess to make sense out of all the private/public $*!7 when you take someone else' code, unless everything is "encapsulated", which is a hardware-resource-wise b!tch (not to mention pain in the @$$ to code sometimes).

yeah, the tutor said, that it works without changing the sourcecode and/or recompile the application.

But i think its like have one motor for a car, a turck and a plane. it works, but on no system its perfect.

Well, Java was originally designed for home appliances (microwave oven, dishwasher, etc.) to be controllable by a computer, but tat idea failed epically.
