Lately Runamuk and I have been working on a UrT 2.6a retro server.
That server is now up and running we tested it and it works perfect.

If any of you wish to try a very old version of UrT here are the instructions on how to install it. I'd post a link to our forum but you have to be registered to view the posts so I'll just copy it all here to save you all the trouble. Though if anyone wishes to register on our site simply to get to know people, feel free to do so we always like seeing new people. (all but dmmh, i think if he would register as [cunt]dmmh our website would have a meltdown )


Files


1. Download Quake III Arena.

The link above will take you to a website where you can download a full version of Q3 that doesn't requires a CD key.
Download is very fast and it should take you only 15-20 minutes to download it.

2. Download Q3 1.32 point release exe.

This installer will update Q3 to the latest version.

3. Download Urban Terror 2.6 and 2.6a patch

Bellow the UrT 2.6 download link you will see a smaller link saying "Download Urban Terror v2.6a patch" don't forget that file as it fixes some bugs in the game.


Installing Quake III and setting up the 2.6a mod.

1. Install Quake III Arena

Once you've downloaded Q3 via torrent i have provided you'll have a ZIP file containing a self extractor.
Chose a directory where it will extract Q3 (i chose the default C:\Quake III Arena to keep the path as shorter as possible). Once the extraction has finished Q3 is installed and ready to be used.

2. Install Quake III 1.32 point release.

Run the 1.32 update and install it to the C:\Quake III Arena\Quake3 folder.
Now Quake 3 is updated to the latest version.

3. Install Urban Terror 2.6

Install UrT 2.6 in any location (it will by default create and install itself into the C:\ProgramFiles\Quake III Arena folder)
Now grab the q3ut2 folder and copy it to your C:\Quake III Arena\Quake3 folder.
Now open q3ut2 and add the pk7 file from the 2.6a patch ZIP file.

All we have to do now is edit the paths in UrT 2.6 shortcut properties.

So right click in the UrT shortcut, hit properties and edit target so it leads into the folder where Quake 3 launcher is (in this case it's C:\Quake III Arena\quake3
"C:\Quake III Arena\Quake3\quake3.exe" +set fs_game q3ut2

And edit the "start in" line so it leads to the Quake3 folder where the q3ut2 is
C:\Quake III Arena\quake3

And that's it. You can start Urban Terror and connect to our retro server.

Cool idea to run old version. And this one runs way better on my (still our ?) computer
Since it's based on Q3 you can enable PB right ?

I'm running it on maximum details and my FPS is 90 all the way.
Yeah i can enable PB but i don't really see the use of it, i doubt someone will come there and cheat XD. And i think it might cause some issues cause the Q3 version I've provided a link to is cracked.

but PB isnt supported anymore right? So will it even detect the newest hacks?

It's not supported by 4.1, but i honestly doubt anyone can even find a hack that is 8 years old.

Since it's Q3 1.32 version I guess there are plenty hacks out there. Ask wurst, he will advise you to use 1.17 (compatible with the original CD version).
But at the end, I don't think anyone will cheat on an UrT 2.6 server, except a f*ing psycho

That's what i think, whoever goes trough the trouble of downloading and installing all that just to cheat, needs medication.
