many suspected wallhackers on the server, but nothing you can point your finger at, since they using them smartly.

Have you guys noticed the same?

I think its sad to see oldtimers starting using them as well, i have some understanding when new players connect and getting owned, thinking all other must be haxing, and furious download hacks as well .... connects and getting banned pretty soon cos they are easy to spot.

I been thinking why a skilled player choose to use hacks, and i think it must be the xlrstats table.

Let me explain, i dont think they do it cos they think its fun. NO i think its players that has forgot why they play the game, not cos its fun but having some sort of status in the community. Some players just have to win even if it means cheating.

I have no solution to these problems, just ventilating some of my thoughts in this matter.

Hmm I wasn't playing much lately (xinerama stops my mouse if I move it too fast in one direction because it enters the 2nd screen ... sux can't seriously play with that) but yes such behavior is the worse, when good people start clever cheating. The only thing to do is kill the stats interface but that would kinda suck as well :S

hm, i know the prob with the stats. i seen same thing everywhere:
its too much for most of them suckers, this is how capitalism worx.

when we have integration of profile we can hide stats from normal users, just allow them to see their own stats when logged in forums.
so they wont be able to compare.
btw: u see at the side? no skill ranking, only frags counting.
and u just mentioned the reason :)

This really is unfortunate. But the same situation is on all the servers. Sadly there is no anti-cheat for standalone UrT and maybe will not ever be. All you really can do is spectate someone and notify admins. Maybe record and send demo to the forums, if it is repeated. Well you could always code an anti-cheat :P

As I wrote in another thread, good players can use wallhack without anyone noticing, since they don't point at the enemy through the wall.

The only solution to this is to build a good community with people you know won't cheat on you and play with (or against, hehe) them, like what we've started here. Count on me, guys, I won't ever cheat. :)

i know a solution:
how bout make a server that dont send the positional data of players u cant see?
i mean: we send all to the client, having to trust that the client itself will be so good to filter it out...

oki lets look forward to remove the ability to compare from stats.
by sorting all by kills or rounds played, giving the user detailed stats only from himself.
i mean we have the users from gameserver and forums matched. its possible.

i like the idea! I think many people will also stop focus on the ratio and in some cases the campy game play style ( that can give a nice ratio) but doesn't help the team much.

In my opinion whole scoring system for TDM is wrong, for a TDM game the most important, if your comparing skills, should be "damage given to enemy team / time played" also extra points if you medic your team but thats another story... At least it can be worth a try, if its no good i guess its easy to change back?

That'd be possible, you could tell the server to handle much of the data, also hits and reload and other stuff so you also can't hack these. But this will make the server extremely CPU-hungry.

I actually like the stats, even the ranking, to compare to my real-life friends. I don't care whether I'm at #12 or #212, as long as I'm better than my friends. :D :D :D
